I think almost everyone thinks lootboxes is gambling. I haven't encountered a serious argument against reglating them as such. I'd be keen to hear it if anyone has a good reference.

Just rewording the headline to reflect reality. If you're paying real money in exchange for a random prize, that's gambling, no two ways about it. And people trying to pass off gambling as not gambling are con artists (especially gambling where the house controls every variable.).
