As someone who was incredibly smitten with Oxenfree 1 (despite having absolutely 0 expectations, I got it on a whim), I am quite looking forward to this. And it seems the sequel is overall very good, so 🥂 for another great game.
That being said, I also want to draw attention to a specific element of RockPaperShotgun's review, namely that Rachel thought the overall story doesn't slot in as well with the new characters we have, despite most elements being extremely similar to the first game.
It sounds to me as if the graceful balance the first game struck between its creepy vibes, its teenage characters and its mystery/x-files plot is difficult to recreate, and was more a lucky bullseye in the first one.

The ending left quite a few questions unanswered but that felt appropriate given the story, so I wasn't really hankering for a sequel. Cautiously optimistic that this will be good though!
