The trailer shows us in a quite beautiful area. Some Inca vibes I would suppose.

There's also a fair few other things they've announced yesterday in regards to FFXIV:

    • FFXIV is coming to Xbox!
    • Two new jobs, both DPS, one melee and one caster. No further details yet, Yoshi P did a nice troll by again taking his short off but he had a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles t-shirt on underneath it. 😅 (he revealed Reaper that way before Endwalker)
    • The free trial will be expanded to include the whole Stormblood expansion and hence lvl70.
    • Items will now have two dye channels instead of one, fixing one of my biggest issues I still had after coming over from Guild Wars 2.
    • The new level cap is 100, as expected.
    • A new item slot for glasses specifically so you're no longer reliant on the fashion accessoire system for them.
    • New lighting/texture engine upgrades shown, although not in-motion in-engine yet (this probably ties into the rather late release date). Metal has proper screen reflections now so gold actually shines like gold. Character lighting is far softer and smoother. Character models seem like the mesh is far more finely detailed albeit with the current textures applied over it (or this is just a trick of the new lighting, granted). Hair looks much more detailed, too.
    • Apparently the new engine upgrades can handle significantly more objects on screen at a time and 3D (instead of fake crisscrossed 2D) plants. They showed this a bit, it looks subtle at first but when they did comparisons in Elpis and Il Megh, the difference was huge. Flowerfields look really beautiful now.
    • Minimum and recommended system requirements went up quite a bit, with the recommended now being an RTX 2060.
    • PS4 will continue being supported, apparently.
    • Fall Guys crossover - of all possible things. Fall Guys gets important FFXIV characters as skins, and the gold saucer gets Fall Guys as a new minigame mode.
    • An ingame raidplan-like system was briefly shown, allowing multiple-slide raid setup infographics.
    • No improvements to grapes confirmed. My disappointment is immeasurable.

I would say more specifically just for those who might be reading this and not too familiar with it, that the tshirt hint thing has been a tradition for a lot longer than that, as they have been teasing expansion jobs through Yoshi-p's attire since as early as pre-Heavensward. So, us speculating about the shirt aren't as crazy as we sound if you're reading this and not in-the-know.

The free trial will be expanded to include the whole Stormblood expansion and hence lvl70.

Soon, too, as this is not a Dawntrail change. During patch 6.5 so in October, I think?

The new level cap is 100, as expected.

I don't know if we can just say "as expected" here. Maybe I'd say "in keeping with past expansions" or something. Reason being there was actually considerable debate about this as in a recent interview Yoshi-p had alluded to considering discontinuing level cap increases at some point in the future. Many people were speculating, then, that they might add nine levels, leaving us with a terminal level cap of 99 like most Final Fantasy titles traditionally have had. Of course, this isn't what actually happened, but I would say there was enough debate and doubt not to say "as expected"

A new item slot for glasses specifically so you're no longer reliant on the fashion accessoire system for them.

Drives me mad that any glasses were implemented as fashion accessories at all. I hope we see a separation of all hat+glasses items (like Varsity Flat Cap) into separate hats and separate glasses slot items, and all the fashion accessories glasses turned into new glasses slot items. If they don't give all of these existing forms of glasses a conversion pass, it will be very disappointing to me.

Minimum and recommended system requirements went up quite a bit, with the recommended now being an RTX 2060.

Little worried for my 1660 Ti honestly...

The glasses slot is probably one of the things I'm most excited for that isn't, you know, the whole new story and battles and stuff. I wear glasses IRL so I like to give my character glasses too, but up until now the only vanilla options were to never wear a hat again or use the practically useless fashion accessory system that's only really good for standing about in Limsa and has exactly 2 options for plain glasses. I think it's the kind of addition where you probably won't care if you didn't already want it, but you'll REALLY care if you did.
