Unreal is the first game I bought to take advantage of my sweet STB Black Magic Voodoo 2, my first 3d accelerator. Coming from Quake and Mechwarrior 2, Unreal with 3d acceleration was really amazing to see in action. It was also the first time I recognized a developer releasing patches that improved the game in significant ways. IIRC, the sounds were beefed up from the release form in later patches.
I've never actually played the game. I guess this is as good an excuse as any to give it a go!
