I'll definitely be trying some demos out, I'll post some impressions later if anything stands out.

I've been playing some of the demos available. Some quick thoughts:

      Saturday demo plays:

      • Alien Hominid Invasion - This was a lot of fun, very arcade-shooter feeling but seems like it could have some interesting overall progression too. The Behemoth's other games (Castle Crashers & co.) have all been great, especially in co-op, so I'm sure this will be too. Definitely looking forward to it coming out eventually (I don't think they've announced any release-date info yet).
      • Fury Unleashed - Enjoyed this quite a bit, it's a roguelike side-scrolling shooter that feels kinda Metal-Slug-like and has a comic book theme. Has mechanics that encourage you to go quickly and keep a kill-combo up, so that's fun and makes you keep up momentum. My backlog is already absolutely ridiculous for different combinations of roguelike/platformer/shooter so I don't think I'll actually buy it, but it seems good.
      • Button City - This demo got me to take the game off my wishlist. The visual style is cute, but almost everything else was disappointing. Even just walking around and looking at things feels cumbersome in multiple ways, and the game even rotates the camera constantly by default. A game like this really needs good writing to carry it, and it definitely doesn't seem to have it. The demo's story centers around a team that's suddenly dominating a competitive arcade game with their surprising and unbeatable strategy, but then when you play against them they seem to just be running around randomly. It was extremely easy to win even though I had no idea how the game worked. It looks like that's one of only two arcade games that will be in the final game, but I wouldn't want to play it again.
      • Dreamscaper: Prologue - This isn't technically a demo from the event and it's been available for a while, but Dreamscaper is one of the selections in the PAX Indie Showcase, so that's what motivated me to try it out now. The theme and style of this game are both excellent, and it felt good to play, so I'm really interested to see what the game ends up having in its release version (it's currently in Early Access).

      Sunday demo plays:

      • Gone Viral - The character movement/attacks/etc. feel fine, but this might be one of the most generic roguelikes I've ever played. Nothing really stood out positively to me at all, and there's a lot of roughness in terms of UI, enemy AI (a lot of the enemies just seem to be walking/attacking completely at random), etc. It's starting Early Access in less than 2 weeks, and I think they're going to have to do a lot of work for this to turn into a game that will get attention from anyone.
      • You Suck at Parking - This one's got potential, I had fun with the demo. It somehow managed to run a little choppy though. This really shouldn't be more demanding than Forza Horizon 4.

There are still a few more I'm intending to play, I'll continue editing them into this post if I do.
