They had a press release last week that talks about some of their investors and partners. Especially interesting to see Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin named, because he announced that he was leaving Twitch on the same day as that press release.

But he's a serial entrepreneur! His experience must mean he'll do even better than last time!

Less cynically, not everyone will have heard of what happened, only that he's founded a number of companies.

Edit: To expand on this, an anecdote from my professional career: one of the small businesses I work with was founded by a woman who is a passionate idealist who had plenty of work experience, but minimal business experience, and was trying to start a business in a fairly male-dominated industry. A lot of potential investors wanted her to bring on a business partner who had more business experience in the industry and who could market and fundraise more effectively. There was a man in the business community who was known to have founded several prior businesses, and had sold at least one of them off for what was rumored to be a good sum, though numbers were never discussed. He had been working to develop a trendy new business and their ideas were aligned, and it seemed that combining forces was a good idea. So she brought him on as a partner, splitting the business with him with the expectation that they could do great things together.

No good things happened. He never fulfilled his promises, pushed for higher executive pay prior to profitability, it turned out that a lot of his work on the trendy business that he'd been developing was useless and behind the pack with regards to actually bringing it to market, and he was an overall drain on the business until they settled with him giving up his share of the company to which he'd brought nothing in exchange for a nice payout.

He was well known and liked in the community. He was a charming guy. People knew that some of his things had gone well. But it's easy for the community to think highly of someone who always talks himself up, gets other people to do the same, and looks well off. It doesn't mean they have any skill in running a business, only in running their mouth.

Weird. Seeing the title I thought it was going to be referring to the book of the same name which is about writing games for MacOS 7-era machines. If you're into retro gaming and into understanding how games from that era worked, it's actually a really good title. But it has nothing to do with this article.
