    I've finally made it back to the gym! After a long, probably year and a half or so, I've signed up for the YMCA, and been hitting the gym 3 times a week! It feels great to get back into it, I forgot how heavy 135 was for benching 😅 I have 2 or 3 goals for getting back to this:

    1. I'd like to be able to lift 1/2/3/4. As in 1 plate for overhead press, 2 plate for Bench, 3 for squats, and 4 for deadlift.

    2. I'd like to get my 'V' back. Before the pandemic (well if I'm being honest with myself, shortly after I got out of college), I had that nice V where the thighs meet the groin. I'd like that back, but I'm sure it'll take more cardio than weights to get it back. And eating single portions of meals instead of seconds.

    3. Hitting 195lbs of muscle would be cool. I'm currently at 195 with no muscle, so a body recomp over the course of 1-2 years is deffo doable.

      Hey there! I'm in a very similar boat, I used to lift regularly and am working my way back to my old level. I'm currently using the 5x5 program with the app, and while I haven't ever heard the 1/2/3/4 shorthand before that's approximately my goal as well. Mind sharing your routine if it's not too much trouble?

        Absolutely wouldn't mind...... But I don't have one currently.

        It's been about 3 weeks back, so I'm still "warming up" so to speak. I really want to make sure my body is ready for lifting again, I have a previous back injury that flared up this week doing barbell shrugs of all things.

        I'd like to do 5 a week exercises but I'm gonna start at 3. So what I'll most likely end up doing is either an upper/lower or push/pull 2 week split. Still haven't decided on that. Last time I was lifting I was doing 3x8 vs the 5x5 which certainly makes progress feel slower.

        Since I don't have much to offer now, lemme get back to you in another couple weeks. I'll have hammered something out by then to really get going 👍

    Weight update

    I've changed my weigh in day, starting last week, to Mondays, as a way to start the week fresh every week. So, last week I weighed in at 254.2 lbs and this week at 252.2 lbs. I've definitely plateaued in the low 250s, but I know that a big reason has been my diet.

    Diet

    I'm having trouble getting back on the horse. I think going to the gym has sapped a lot of the willpower I had come to use for eating less and cooking more. I did some meal prep for suppers this week (porkchops and spaghett) so they'll be ready to eat in the evening. I hate eating heavy in the evening so this, plus some steamed veg will be good. I have to make the steamed veg today, though, as my want to cook more ended yesterday after cleaning the dished used to cook with.

    Fitness

    I missed Monday (Nov 8) due to my knee acting up, but had a massage anyway so it worked out. I went to the gym on Wednesday despite not wanting to, and had a great gym session. However, I did not go on Friday as I was really not feeling it. I should have went anyway just to be able to say I went, but oh well. Back at it today, and I hope to make this week a hattrick.
