Absolutely tragic and bizarre news. For as long as I've been in to photography, DPReview was the site I turned to for camera reviews, news, comparisons, buying guides, etc. The forums were always one of the top results for photography questions (although its questionable how helpful it was).
I cannot believe that Amazon is just going to get rid of it entirely instead of selling it or keeping it going forever in a maintenance mode. It is such a waste of the hardwork done by the people working there over decades.

Was a frequenter of the site back when I used/needed a good camera, they provided great info and reviews. With Amazon's purchase it would be expected that as soon as necessary small specialized sites like it would get the axe. I wonder if they have non-competes (largely unenforceable) and can just immediately shift to hosting their own site instead. It's not like they're unpopular, their latest camera quick review has ~500 comments, in depth reviews have 1500+, and many of the random accessory reviews have over 100.
Hoping that someone is fast at work at archiving the site as it has a plethora of in depth info about nearly every camera they review that isn't easily done or available elsewhere.

For fans of the (excellent) video content they do, the boys are going to keep doing their thing over at PetaPixel instead:
