Watch enthusiasts/collectors
Do we have any watch enthusiasts or collectors on here ?. I’m more of an enthusiast than a collector, i do owned a couple but wouldn’t call it a Collection.

I don’t have the money to be a collector, but I do window shop. I have a green dialed Seiko Alpinist that I’m quite fond of. I’m fond of classic, simple handwinding designs but, unfortunately, my tastes are far richer than my station in life. So the Vacheron Patrimony of my dreams is out of reach and I’ll probably content myself with a Stowa Partitio or something instead.
I will probably get a boutique brand watch someday like an MKII or a Halios. And if I decide to get a proper fancy one I’d go cliché and get a moonwatch or maybe a Grand Seiko. I like the JLC Geophysic, but it’s pretty pricey for what it is. That’s all gonna have to wait until I double my household income though.
All my watches are under £500 I’m not a big fan of expensive watches I’m more about the quality of workmanship, the seiko alpinist is a lovely watch I believe it is now discontinued so you are lucky to have one they will probably be going up in value in the near future.
Oh I wear it all the time, so it’s highly unlikely it’ll be worth anything but sentimental. I take it hiking and climbing and stuff so it’s a bit dinged up. The hope is that it gets the patina of all the trips I’ve gone on so I can pass it onto my kid to add dings of scratches of their own.
Im not much of a watch nerd in terms of knowing the histories of the brands and important references. I do think that they’re often beautiful from an aesthetic point of view, and I’m quite drawn to the mechanical aspect.
