For those interested in the topic I can recommend the book the Anarchy by Dalrymple a history of the British East India company. It's a compelling read and covers the history of the corporation as well as military history. From that book I learned that the largest collection of Indian antiquities in the world is housed in a less well known castle in Wales.

Edit: Here's a link to the book on GoodReads for those interested: The Anarchy: The East India Company, Corporate Violence, and the Pillage of an Empire

I say this as someone who took 4 semesters of world history in college, I am glad that others are taking note of the other theaters taking place during the American Revolution.

The American Revolution was a global conflict with battles (mostly naval) between the French and British throughout the know world in Europe, East Indies, Caribbean, and others. This is often overshadowed by the land battles on the American continent but it was crucial to the war effort.

The American Revolution was also part of the Atlantic Revolutions** (granted, It was the first and arguably most important of them) Most of the earlier (pre-1800s) revolutions are considered to be an extension of the The Seven Years War, which was also a global conflict. The Seven Years war was succeed by the Napoleonic Wars, which was again, a global conflict.

My professors unofficially called these events "World War 1/2" due to global nature of the conflicts, as the wars between them were mainly due to the two superpowers fighting for dominance with small breaks in between. They should be looked at as extensions of each other, rather than isolated conflicts. This is an important section of history which in unfortunately often glossed over so I am glad it is getting some attention.
