Hello again from the Study of Antiquity & the Middle Ages. In this episode, I cover a whole new series of discoveries that have changed the models of European settlement around 10,000 years ago. This is a tremendously exciting time in Paleo-archaeology and this video should probably be twice as long!

More and more evidence is accumulating that indicates Southeastern Europe might better hold the title of cradle of civilization than the Euphrates river valley. Of course it isn’t a contest and both locations are crucial to the development of modern humans. But now we know our ancient city-building forefathers of Sumer were not alone!
