    Damn, Awlil to Hakata. I'd hate to have to pay that postage by medieval times. And I have doubts about the insurance policy... Kind of surprising they didn't have a stronger system of passports or...

    Kind of surprising they didn't have a stronger system of passports or identification honestly, even though merchants would have had local routes, it seems like it would certainly be possible for people to travel much further then just their continent even.

      Passports would be limited due to the difficulty of securely printing them and distributing them with the technology available at the time, and limited capabilities to verify them for authenticity...

      Passports would be limited due to the difficulty of securely printing them and distributing them with the technology available at the time, and limited capabilities to verify them for authenticity and revocation.

      it seems like it would certainly be possible for people to travel much further then just their continent even

      I'm not sure there would be much to stop them besides time (seasonal weather changes), money, and the language barrier.
