I really enjoyed this article as it's something that I've been personally thinking about for quite some time.
I got into philosophy in quite a big way about six or seven years ago. Friend of mine recommended Aurelius (as every techie does) and I throughly enjoyed reading about who the man was, what he believed and the various nuances that go common misunderstood about Stoicism and how it gets represented in society.
But more and more I go through bookstores and I see folks like Ryan Holiday creating a marketting brand around the Stoic philosophy and a few friends have intimated that there are others as well. The article explains parts of why this happens (Capitalism, shocker) as well as what we can do about it and additional reading.
