This is a (neo)marxist argument against primitivism–in essence the belief that civilization itself was a mistake and should be abolished. It's pretty out there as far as political ideologies go, but it can be surprisingly difficult to argue against! I was thinking about it because the recent mail bombing attempts in the united states have people drawing comparisons to Ted Kaczynski, whose manifesto Industrial Society and its Future advocates primitivism, and that reminded me that I had this essay saved!
