I have really come to hate the word "zesty"
It's a small thing I guess, but more and more often I see the word "zesty" being used not in a playful way or descriptive way, but as a form insult to straight guys when someone doesn't like them. Like people want to put them down literally by insinuating that they're gay, as if being gay is just the worst thing, and worse, with a sort of wink and a nudge as if no one is picking up on what they mean by it. As a gay guy, it's tiresome and old already. It just pisses me off.
I have literally never once in my life used the word zesty if it wasn't in reference to food.
Even coming into this post, I was like "this is a strong opinion about food descriptors", yet here we are.
I suspect this is very specific to your local culture because I haven't heard of zesty being used as anything other than a descriptor of food. Could you link some examples?
That said. Have you voiced your concerns on the subject in any way? People may not know they are upsetting you.
Oh, that's very possible, I didn't think of that. I'm in the USA, but the last time I saw it was in some YouTube comments about Drake. I can't find the video now, but here is the Urban Dictionary for it:

Zest
Acting feminine while being male. Usually associated with homosexuality.
Mohammad is quite zesty, in fact I would call him the zest lord.
It's prevalent where I am in South London too, but people in my area speak MLE so probably doesn't translate into areas outside big cities in the UK.
I also have come to hate it 😅
