    malaysia being a majority-muslim country and pushback from the prime minister means this is not likely to end in any improvements, but it's still interesting to see that the push for LGBT rights...

    malaysia being a majority-muslim country and pushback from the prime minister means this is not likely to end in any improvements, but it's still interesting to see that the push for LGBT rights isn't just making overtures of progress in the west. also interesting is how the women's march has taken the step of linking violence against the LGBT community and gender-based violence, which is something that people are presumably less likely to dismiss as an issue:

    The first demand of the 9 March event is to ‘end all violence based on gender and sexual orientation’, organizers said at a press conference on Tuesday (12 February).
    This year’s theme is ‘stop violence, respect women’.
