Many years ago, I read an article on Trip magazine about the rats of São Paulo, Brazil's largest city. The guy followed an exterminator, who told him of the time he was surrounded by a crew of large hostile rodents and had to run to the safety of his car. For a while I became the rat guy, talking about rats to everyone I knew. They can climb walls and run on wires. If there's not enough food, they quickly resort to eating each other, even their offspring. One of them crawled up to some woman's toilet and bit her in the ass. Rats are the ultimate urban duelers.
