I was an interested reader of this one since I'm a dual US-UK citizen who's lucky enough to have pretty portable skills, and have been thinking about the same things. Her decision to move "from the fire to the frying pan" was definitely something my wife and I had discussed, but I saw it a little more gloomily; while the political situation in the US is not very pleasant, discourse in the UK is only slightly less rancorous, and it's hard to predict where that rancor is directed even two years from now.

Or, to put it another way, although neither country is a picnic and US wackiness like the "qanon" stuff becoming mainstream subjects of discussion don't paint a nice picture, I have more faith that the US's essential qualities and institutions that I appreciate will still be present in some form, given 5-10 years, even if the negatives persist.

(granted, the perspectives are different; it sounds like this author will be moving from NY to London without even giving up her current job, while I'd be moving from central California to Scotland -- certainly a bit further removed from cultural loci.)
