Tildes Video Thread

So, quite a few people don't like/watch video content, and don't like seeing the homepage filled with videos. Let's try something new, see if it sticks.

What are the best videos you have watched this past week/fortnight?

The Brightest Laser Pointer in the World. Drake/styropyro is insane, but insane with solid engineering abilities and good safety protocols. Excellent mad scientist hair too. Also educational, in a "glad he's doing this so I don't have to" kind of way (I'm very paranoid about lasers and will barely tolerate even low-power pointers near me)

Steven Seagal Choke Hold Diorama. Irishman "Bobby Fingers" is maybe some kind of professional model maker and, like his previous video (Drunk Mel Gibson Arrest) creates an impressive diorama from scratch using a variety of techniques. Before burying it somewhere in Ireland for someone to find. It's the commentary/voice over which really elevates this though. Just when you think the internet is getting predictable, something like this channel comes along.

Riverdale: The Show That Went Completely Insane. SPOILERS IN THE VIDEO This is a pretty solid critique of the batshit insanity that is Riverdale. I think definitely it's worth pushing through the first 13 episodes of fairly mediocre high-school-Twin-Peaks-lite to get to the bonkersness that is the rest of the show. The funniest thing about this video is that the guy hasn't seen season six yet, and no matter how insane you think things were in previous seasons, S6 makes the rest of the show look like The Antiques Roadshow.

Who said it, Kanye or Hitler? (not as easy as you might expect). Garfunkel and Oates doing a bit 13 years ago.

Styropyro scares the living shit out of me. Everytime I see one of his videos I imagine the day his channel will be profiled on the news right after a description of some bizarre and horrific accident. He handles things in goggles and a t-shirt that I wouldn't touch in a full-body lead-lined radiation suit with no eyeholes.

Utterly terrifying, 10/10 would watch again.

    Auto Shenanigans

I guess the eventuality of consuming far too much transport content through YouTube has arrived for me. The algorithm has seduced me and convinced me that I simply needed to know the secrets of Britain's motorways. Naturally.

Between binging let's plays of the new Civ 6 leaders with The Game Mechanic, I've been dipping into the Auto Shenanigans series 'Secrets of the Motorway'. The host is irreverent and I like their patter as they highlight the quirks of British road history and point out interesting landmarks along the journey.

This video focusing on the A1M motorway makes me wish Geoff Marshall and Jay Foreman had done more with their videos on the A1 route in London.
