I slept on it for a couple nights and finally decided to do the same this afternoon. 12 years worth of posts/comments, all deleted thanks to Shreddit.
My hope is that my original posts will be available via archive.org and forever lost but I'm not holding my breath on that being easily searchable.
I thought about doing the whole “replace your comments with something else protest-y” but in the end I was just ready to be done with it so I hit the delete account button.

There was another thread about this that's still active recently, you can post in there if you like: https://tildes.net/~tech/1625/the_most_liberating_decision_just_deleted_my_reddit_account
