And yet so little actual understanding about where things stand globally and environmentally.
I would ask those here right now to make a note to look back on this thread in, say, 3-5 years time and see if you feel similarly to how you do currently. We are on the downhill slope at the moment but so many can't recognize it (and also won't recognize it) and I only hope they truly understand what a terrible spot we're in during the coming years so it isn't so much of shock when their quality of life declines considerably in the future.

I would absolutely pump the brakes on that line of thought until he is actually experiencing consequences of his actions and is unable (in one way or another) to win an election. Thusfar he is still a free man, the leading Republican candidate for 2024 and his opponents in the primary are all way behind him in popularity.
That said: Go legal system go! I look forward to watching the various cases against him continue to unfold, as he has a lot to answer for.

It never ceased to amaze me how it seemed like some people would scan a comment for a phrase or sentence, ignore all the rest of the context, and go off on a small aspect of the overall point. I eventually came to understand that so many people on social media just want to be mad about something, and anger = engagement so of course it's encouraged by all platforms.
It's enjoyable reading replies here because for the most part people put thought into their words and don't just assume the worst automatically. I definitely appreciate it and I'm glad you do too.

Grimalkin As they usually do, yes. I will continue to use YouTube on desktop and adblock as much as I can, while recognizing that the days are likely numbered where I can do so easily.I bet the C-suite will get their nice bonuses and all that.

If we 'solve' one issue there are so many others waiting in the wings.
Speaking as a human being in 2023, it's a weird time to be alive and recognizing what is to come in our not-very-far-away future...but still having to go to work, pay bills, uphold the status quo, pretend everything is ok, etc, etc. It's maddening, simply maddening.

And the fact that Hugh Howey is active in reddit threads about the books and TV show is a real nice plus as he give much insight and an interesting behind-the-scenes point of view to the writing of the books and how the show is being done.
I would generally agree with the comment
it gets a little slower through Shift, but picks back up in Dust.
as Shift definitely has some parts that could have been trimmed a bit but I really enjoyed all the different character aspects and details by the end of the series. Overall I really appreciate this addition to the post-collapse genre, which has become favorite of mine to read/watch as of late.

I think they have this year only to make a solid run at a Super Bowl, so they should do whatever they can to try and accomplish that. But I saw a list of available veteran QBs and it is...not encouraging to say the least.
