House Republicans are helping Vladimir Putin – Their cynicism over Ukraine weakens America and makes the world less safe

If they had set out to harm America and help Mr Putin they could hardly have done a better job.

Well, that's about the most generous "if" I've seen in journalism in a while.

In the roughly 30 years I've been following American politics, the Republican Party has done absolutely nothing to strengthen American security, our standing in the world, nor the stability and sustainability of our society. All they've ever done in my time is leverage wedge issues and the myth of Republican economic wisdom to enrich the already wealthy and shift public funds to the defense industry and its associated grifters.

Lately they haven't even been doing that shit so much as fawning over Donald Trump (purely because he can garner them votes), and torpedo anything that might actually address some of the myriad problems they helped create, with a sideline in taking laundered Russian oligarch money in exchange for helping along Putin's neo-tsarist ambitions.

If we could just hook a dynamo up to Lincoln's grave, we might power the lower Midwest with all the spinning he must be doing. But then, the GOP would probably put the kibosh on that 'cause it might hurt the fucking coal industry.
