I was reading comments in a recent post lamenting the death of small internet communities and the simultaneous growth of centralized content delivery and social media sites. This reminded me of Halfbakery. I was about to post about how it had been offline since April/May and probably not coming back. I used to check it regularly and almost forgot about it after a while. When I went to see that it was still down, I was delighted to see that it is back online.
Halfbakery is a website devoted to the exposition, explanation, and criticism (ridicule) of half-baked ideas. The community is composed of whatever type of person is interested in that sort of thing - they happen to be very amusing. Some of the ideas are actually good ones, for example The N-prize went on to be implemented by the poster.
