I think I interpreted the film differently though. The message I got at the end of the film was that any radical group can quickly turn into something fanatical that denies its own allies. Like Patrice saying she doesn't date cops even though he's trying to help her. I also disagree with him saying that the film was telling black people to "stop worrying about the police, they're on your side" (or something to that effect I'm on mobile so I don't have his tweet up). I felt like the film was saying that this change isn't going to come around from a war between the black community and the cops. It Has to come from within the police. Whether that be from more black officers or from showing white officers why they may have skin in the game too. I'm not necessarily saying I 100% agree but that's what I felt like Spike Lee was saying when I saw it.
