Is this a remake? I was unaware of a previous Maleficent movie if so. I'm pretty comfortable with stories told from another angle like this, but find the live-action-and-change-a-song-or-two...

I happened to load this up right as my wife walked in and had her sit down to watch it with me. She's a big fan of Maleficent and the "bad guy" point of view movies. She's very excited about this one, naturally.
Edit: Also love that this trailer is in deliciously widescreen. It's not often I get to completely fill my ultrawide when I make something go fullscreen.

You're right. This isn't a remake but rather another angle on the sleeping beauty story (as far as I can tell). The remake movies you referred to I also think are pretty good.
