Following on from this post I was inspired to look for one of my favorite film festival film experiences.

Low and behold, it was (relatively) recently added to archive.org...

A shot-for-shot remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), started by three 12-year-olds and completed over a period of six years.

It's blury, out of focus, and the actors randomly go from 12 years old to 16 years old to 14 and back to 12 depending on how old they were when they filmed a particular scene.

It even inspired a documentary (which while technically superior is frankly nowhere near as good.)

Sadly, I can't recreate the film festival experience for you, but I can do my best to describe it... the theatre went absolutely wild. People were clapping and cheering and roaring with laughter. Then the original makers came out after the movie had finished, and I am slightly hard of hearing to this day, as a result.

I, too, was at a showing of this movie with the original creators in attendance. Wonder if it was the same one.

That sounds about right. Well, if it was in the Los Angeles area, anyway.

When Chris Strompolos does such a good job here, I don't understand why Lucasfilm can't recast Indy in the actual films.
