Harry Baker is openly Christian (I saw him performing poetry in a church just a few weeks ago, he was excellent)
Shotty Horroh is one of the league owners and considered one of the best battlers around.
There's bunch of other inside jokes going on, but that's always going to be a feature of a fairly small community.
Anyway, battle rap isn't new. Competitive insulting via verse has been a feature of human societies for a very long time. Norse gods and mortal skalds took part in senna, in the middle ages poets would engage in flyting, in the early 20th century there was The Dozens and many many more examples from all over the world. People love diss poetry..
Anyway, watch this. It's funny and clever. They are friends in real life, of course. You couldn't be that rude to anyone but a friend!
If you want some more I'd suggest this iconic compliments battle from Shuffle-T and Marlo, and Harry Baker vs Ogmios. Baker also has a lot of performance poetry (which is his day job) on YT and Instagram if you like that sort of thing. Which I do.
They rap acappella so there is no actual music, but I thought ~music seemed the most right place as it's still part of hip hop even without a beat.
I agree, Shuffle definitely won this one. Harry has been out of the battle scene for quite a few years and seemed a bit out of practice and nervous. Shuffle, however, has been all over the place...

That's very cool. I've watched rap battles before both in videos and in person in the local community I used to live, but it's the first time I see it without actual music.

Thanks for sharing, quite enjoyed that. My two pence are that Shuffle-T won by a landslide.
