The Last Dinner Party - Prelude to Ecstasy (2024)

I have had this album on very heavy rotation since it came out. I had never heard of the band before until a colleague mentioned they were listening to it as their day's soundtrack. I think it's a bloody brilliant album, and it's an early contender for album of the year in 2024 (although Cosmo Sheldrake is also releasing one this year, so that might be premature). The production is really good, and there are some incredibly catchy hooks as well. The whole sound is vaguely reminiscent of Sparks. My particular favourites are The Feminine Urge, My Lady of Mercy, and Nothing Matters, so if you only listen to 3 songs, listen to those (but seriously, listen to the whole thing, it's excellent).
