A lot of black metal recently!

    Black Birch - Weak

    Beenkerver - De Rode Weduwe

I went into a bit of a rabbit hole about the genre not too long ago because it has a really interesting history. Most probably know or have heard of Varg Vikernes and the Norwegian church burnings of the 1990's. But there's a lot more to it, because neo-Nazism has an unfortunate history in the genre, to the point that NSBM (National Socialist Black Metal) is a whole genre, and there are even festivals with bands of only this genre in France, Ukraine, and others. It's mostly a problem in Eastern Europe, but it can be quite wide spread and it is problematic to such an extent that someone created a website to dive into band histories and give them a rating of 1 to 5 to judge how Nazi they are lol - some bands that aren't NSBM by themselves but have relationships to those bands will be given a higher rating for example.. not great.

I am the type that cannot separate the art from the artist, so I do not ever listen to bands associated with it. Polish band Mgla for example are still doing business with a NSBM record label, and despite having listened to them a lot in the past because they make genuinely incredible music, I have made it a point to never listen to it again.

Long story short (and I know this was a needlessly long comment) to every force there is also an opposite, and the opposite in this case is RABM (Red and Anarchist Black Metal), and one such band that I have been listening to recently is Black Birch from above - if you're into black metal in any way, I highly recommend them! Their vocalist is female too, which is always crazy when it comes to harsh vocals!

I linked a Beenkerver song too but I can't find much info about them as I don't speak Dutch. Not sure they are RABM.

Have you listened to Dawn rayd yet? They split up recently but were very much an anti fascist black metal band.
