For years they were my favorite band -- Wildlife, of course, but Rooms of the House is really their masterpiece. Unfortunately Panorama felt like a big step back, largely because the mix was so so bad. Idk why they decided to muffle the vocals through the whole album.
I'm glad they released all 3 singles at once. I think they're a band, especially at their stage in their career, where you really need to be hearing their music in context with the album. I'm a bit iffy on these, but I've listened to them a few times and they're growing on me.
Wildlife for me though Rooms of the House is a close second. And I completely agree about Panorama. It was a big step backward for me. Considering that, I'm cautiously optimistic about this new...

Sharing this here because I'm not sure a whole new post is needed, but oh my God this new song is the best song they've released in 10 years: Environmental Disaster Film

I was mildly anticipatory for the new album, mostly cause I just really didn't want it to be a disappointment like Panorama, but wow I am fully engaged in the hype cycle now.
it felt like they were really trying to channel mwY by not screaming (well, lower intensity?) and all that... but it mostly fell flat. I need to stop comparing these guys to mwY, though. It isnt fair.

Great little band. I kind of thought they were only popular with former christians for some reason. :)
This is how I know Tilderinos are my people. Currently excitedly anticipating for the rest of the mewithoutYou live albums from their final tour. Anyone also enjoy Touché Amoré?

I tagged it as "punk.folk" purely because its very similar to Folk Punk in its recording and style, but it might not quite fit?
Saw this post and listened to a few songs, vibed a bit with them but then moved on… Only to be looking through my “library” in Apple Music and realized apparently I’ve had Objects in Space show up...

Only to be looking through my “library” in Apple Music and realized apparently I’ve had Objects in Space show up in one of my discovery queues and I liked it enough to add it to my library.
Guess I should probably listen to the rest of the album it’s from since people here seem to rank that album pretty highly. But any other ones I should check out?

Most people consider Wildlife their seminal album. It was hugely influential at the time it came out, and was their first foray into album-length storytelling, although this is more chapter-based with some interludes that connect the threads than their later works which track a single narrative across the whole album. Rooms of the House is their followup to Wildlife, which is the one that Objects in Space comes from (which is the album closer and ties a nice knot on the story of a failing relationship that the album traces). PANAROMA is their most recent album and it's... Well it's not very good unfortunately.
If you jive with any of these, you'll probably also like their first full length, Somewhere at the Bottom of the River -- but it's also a lot harsher vocally and a little more aggressive musically than their more recent work. The newest song the released, the one I linked elsewhere in this thread, invokes some of this which they haven't leaned on much recently.

holy shit. understatement.

I'm not some super fan or anything, but I really thought Panorama would grow on me... but it didn't. :)
There are a couple songs I like, and a couple I know I'd really like if I could actually make out the vocals at all, but yeah overall it's just... eh

holy shit. I didnt expect these boys to come up. Do you also love mewithoutYou?

Yeah, huge Touche fan. I've seen them live 4 times I believe -- once with La Dispute, actually.
Touché Amoré is pretty good. I need to give them a proper listen, though. But everything I've heard from them has been solid.
Lament is far and away my favorite record of theirs, I’d recommend that as a good starting point!

Likewise! I hadn’t heard One Step Closer before but just checked out the most recent single and this is great stuff!
