I discovered Havukruunu in 2017 and they very quickly became a new favorite of mine, easily in the top 3 with Bathory and Darkthrone. Kelle Surut Soi is still my favorite album, but Tavastland is becoming a close second. I like how their sound is very much in the raw side of things of the genre, but still melodic without becoming melodic black metal. You can actually hum some of their riffs easily. The paganish choir singing giving the whole atmosphere an extra layer. For anybody else who likes their sound, I can recommend the lesser known danish band Angantyr as a sort similar pagan melodic-but-not-melodic black metal sound.
Great band. A wonderful release from this year. I haven't listened to it enough times yet but a number of people I know have this in their "best of the year" lists already Also glad to find good...

Also glad to find good Finnish black metal that isn't sketchy since a lot of it is
It's well settled on my own AOTY list for one. Doesn't quite manage to topple Kelle Surut Soi from the throne but still absolutely delivered the goods for me.
