At the Gates were a huge influence on me as a guitarist and writer growing up, and still continue to inspire. Amongst the flourishing Gothenburg scene in the early to mid 90s it was Lindberg's blackened rasps imbuing his more thoughtful lyrics with an extra edge of haunting desperation that really helped AtG stick out from the pack. RIP to another metal legend.
He was a member of a number of great bands (Disfear, Skitsystem, etc), AtG being the most popular/influential one (back when melodeath was good, though there's a bit of a resurgence of the good...
