This project was filmed in Ukraine during the war. The choir was recorded on a calm day, between nights of air raids and shelling. As I’m writing this, Kyiv is in a blackout.
This city has always meant a great deal to me, and I hope this video can, in one way or another, help people understand what is happening there.

The song carries the spirit of the Ukrainian folk piece “Ой, боровая зязюліна (веснянка)”, recorded and preserved thanks to the work of folklorists and the ensemble Древо in Chernihiv region. Our gratitude to those who go into villages, listen, write down, remember, and keep these traditional songs from disappearing.
