Anyone else here into chiptunes?

I always have a hard time finding good new chiptunes material though, so if you have any recommendations, please chime in!

The careful attention to details like timbre, dynamics, counterpoint, etc. is a level above the rest, and kind of ruined other chiptunes for me.

A little tough to give recommendations completely from scratch, but here's a couple artists/songs that I like: Big Giant Circles - Go for Distance _ensnare_ - You Know My Heart

Depending on exactly where one draws the line between "chiptune" and other electronic/EDM genres I've found some other recent favorites the same way:

Check out the soundtrack for the game Tangledeep that came out fairly recently (Google Music link, since you said you use that). It's 16-bit style, very Chrono-Trigger-esque.

Other than some of the more well know artists like Anamanaguchi, Chipzel, and Shirobon, I tend to listen to: Slime Girls Unicorn Kid Like Luke meganeko

Random's Bad Joke EP is a classic album I'd recommend to anyone.

Here are a few chiptune tracks on Soundcloud I've enjoyed:

The Data Airlines and Cheapbeats labels on Bandcamp are a good starting point for exploring more stuff too.

On Youtube it's crammed into three gigantic videos, but he has download links for all of the individual tracks. There's something like 12 straight hours of content in there, so it should give you a nice boost to your library :D

I don't really listen to chiptune any more, but look up Danimal Planet's album Roots. Haven't heard a better chiptune album.
