I love the lack of hooks here, it makes it feel like a much more mature project that doesn't rely too heavily on repetition, it feels very immediate.
I think the biggest failure of Brockhampton is how separated all of the members feel from one another. It's hard to describe, but think about other great hip hop groups like Wu-Tang, you really get that sense that they're united by the beat and playing off one another. Each BH member seems to just do their own thing, they're lyrics are just tied by a very loose theme of being disenfranchised young men.
I've never been more aware of this than on iridescence, the only thing that ties the album together is the beats and instrumentation. I really want to hear an album from them that has a cohesive message and vision, but I don't expect that from anyone pushing 4 albums in 18 months.
Massively disappointed. I miss their Saturation days already. Berlin and Where The Cash At are pretty good though. Production and sound engineering as a whole is a big step down. I hate how hollow...

Production and sound engineering as a whole is a big step down. I hate how hollow and boring the overall sound is.
Joba sticks out in every song with how annoying he is. This wasn't an issue in their Saturation trilogy. He is given too much of a spotlight on this album. His verses are very irritating.
I'm really hoping this project grows on me as a long time fan of both Kevin Abstract and Brockhampton as a whole.
