A classical-fusion rendition of Benim Sadık Yarim Kara Torpaktır "My loyal friend is black earth" by Aşık Veysel Şatıroğlu, a modern member of the aşık tradition, an oral poetic/musical tradition in Anatolian Turkish folklore. He's revered as a modern virtuoso of this tradition, and also as a figure in folk philosophy and also tasavvuf.
The topos "black earth" has relations to death, to the life of the dead in the grave as they wait the day of justice, and by extension to afterlife, but also to agriculture, and to the source of life through the myth of Adam and Eve. Maybe I wouldn't be stretching it too much if I said it relates to a cycle of life and death.
That was sublime. And I know it's somewhat old-hat at this point but I still love when pianists utilize the piano internals like that to generate an alternative range of sounds. p.s. That channel...
