First of all i would like to thank the person who sent me the invite code, and greet all of you! I have spent a lot of time on reddit for about 7 or 8 years now, and i miss the old reddit. I got very excited when i heard about tildes and have been lurking for a short while, and thought i would make my first post and contribute.

Now to the topic at hand. It is quite a diverse playlist, but it follows a thin red line where electronic music is fused with jazz, hiphop, funk, psychedelic rock and other things. It is my take on downtempo and it reflects mine and my friends music tastes dating back about 18 years. It´s the playlist i personally listen to almost daily.

Honestly, i have not got much going for me in life professionally, or in general i feel sometimes. The only thing i can say is that i am good at pc gaming where i have played a couple of games on a competitive level, which has brought me some sort of meaning. This playlist is also something i am very proud of, and has been a way for me to give back to others and make new friends.

The subreddits it got posted in and fits well are as follows, to give a better picture:

What do you guys listen to when you kick back and relax? Or what music is "downtempo" for you? If any of you would like to contribute, or if you think your music fits, i am all ears. Discovering new bands/artists/producers is something i love, oh so much.

Welcome to Tildes! Props for building this huge list. I see many genres that I usually listen to, so I'll give it a whirl! Also RJD2 is always a good way to open a playlist :)

I would say listening to it backwards is a good way to listen to it rather then random, even though that`s perfectly fine. From the start down works to, but i think the quality of transitions are not as well done as upside down. If you follow and like what you hear, listen to it upside down to explore the new things that are added.

edit: I forgot!! and i hope you see this. You have to check out RJD2`s new album from last year, i think it is some of his best work in a long ass time!

Can't say I've ever heard of the genre. I guess I can spare an hour to fix that, though. Edit: I almost forgot I had music playing despite having it on pretty loud. I guess that's the point?

I would say that many songs are perfect for ambience and background music for lets say, a get together after dinner. But some of the songs are more of an experience. I usually call that kind of music producer porn, its the kind of music that any music producer would say, this is some sick stuff! If you really listen the song it opens up, showing small details and harmony, while having it the background its soothing. At least that is what i try and relay.

But yes, 99% of the songs are meant to relax to. I would say that the perfect setting would be out in nature, perhaps on a mountain with your favorite snacks and a spliff in hand, with good company. That is at least what trip hop was for me in my teens, still is i suppose.

I am glad you forgot what you where listening to, its part of the point indeed :)

Edit: i would say its more a general term rather then a genre, if it is the word downtempo you are referring to.

Welcome! I haven't heard of most of those genres, but I'll give it a listen when I have some time. For discovery, try Gnoosic. Site isn't too pretty, but it's good for discovery.

I just clicked the link to check out Gnoostic. First of all, Woha, this is cool! But i will wait until later to answer it`s questions since i just woke up and cannot see straight yet. I am super intrigued to see what kind of algorithm is at works here. Feels like i am in a scifi movie, the minimalistic design just adds that to the website. i like it!

Nice! I curated a similar playlist over the course of a couple years with a number of the same songs you've included here. Unfortunately it wasn't on Spotify and I no longer have access to it, but it's nice to see we're on the same wavelength here. Lots of good tunes to chill out to.

I see you've got one Moodorama track already, but you might want to return to that well! Also I recommend looking into Airlock, The Deli, Bethurum, The Sound Providers, and Buckshot LeFonque if you want some more trip-hop, lo-fi, or jazz beats that might fit in with the other stuff here.

Such a shame your playlist is gone with the wind, would have definitely checked it out. It`s so much fun when my list falls into the hands of someone who is really into this kind of stuff! It´s a special kind of music often times, a short and intense wavelength :P

Oh boy oh boy, so many names are dropped it makes my mouth water. Thank you!

edit: just a thank you edit, you provided a lot of good tunes my friend.
