My husband and I both lean heavily towards pop in our musical interests, and Tegan and Sara are one of our all-time favorite groups. They make great pop songs with panache, and they have a way of distilling down specific sentiments into engaging, relatable musical moments.
They unfortunately caught a lot of criticism for changing up their sound on this album (and its followup), but I think they did a great job of taking their pop songwriting into new sonic territory for them. I'm of the opinion that they've mastered the craft of writing standout songs that sound earnest rather than manufactured. I would love a new album from them.
