What are everyone's thoughts on the new album? A new low or a bold new direction? How has Will Smith done on his comeback?

Personally, I love it. Maybe missing some of the lyrical work of previous albums, but the beats are without comparison. 6ix knocks it out of the park again. I can tell this one will be contentious.

Sorry it took so long to respond, but I wanted to give Logic another fair shake and listen to this album in full without interruption. And after doing that, I basically have the same opinion on Logic as I did before. For reference, my previous comments on Logic - Homicide:

Have to admit I am not a Logic fan... I have tried to get into him a few times now, but just find his songs lyrically cliché and bland, and his rhyme schemes overly simplistic and repetitive (ABXB or ABAB x ∞). But this was great. Eminem kills it, as usual.

p.s. Nothing against Logic as a person, every interview I have seen with him makes him seem like a decent kid.

And after @drannex suggested I give him another try:

So, I gave YSIV a listen and while Logic is clearly a very, very talented producer (his beats are sick and hooks catchy), and his delivery is solid, unfortunately his lyrics and rhyming still aren't really impressing me all that much. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the album, and will listen to Bobby Tarantino II as well... but it's not something I would really rave about or revisit either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

p.s. Wu Tang Forever was sick and I was mildly impressed by 100 Miles and Running though.

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, like most of Logic's albums, was about 50/50 for me. I really liked the title track, Homicide, Wannabe, Mama, Don't Be Afraid, BOBBY, and Lost In Translation... but the rest were either meh or straight trash (clickbait and Out Of Sight were especially terrible IMO). I still think Logic relies too heavily on incredibly predictable, overly simplistic rhymes and rhyme schemes and his lyrics are still pretty cliché.

And since you asked about Will Smith, Don't Be Afraid was a great throwback track and I really liked it. ;)

The tracks you mentioned where exactly the same ones I loved. Its worth pointing out Logic does not produce the beats, that would be his producer 6ix.

The thing that interests me is the massive arguments that seem to have kicked off over this album. It seems every person falls into one camp on this one. Rumors of a part 2 also seem to be circulating

Huh... I have never consciously labeled any artists that way, but now that you mention it I realize how many artists I do actually think of like that, and how perfect a description of Logic that...

        TIL, thanks.
