I've linked to the first article. Some are better than others. I like the fact that there's no gatekeeping (which is something that UK music magazines tend to have huge amounts of) and there's no snooty "wait, you like that??" -- you either like a song or you don't and either way is fine. This may not sound like much but for me it was refreshing to break away from people telling me I was wrong to enjoy something.
The Album Club is a simple set-up, but it had some great reading about music. A lot of the people are going to be British and working in the UK media, but most of them are not particularly well known. It's not still running which is a shame but I thought maybe Tildes could tweak the format a bit for this group?
The Rules
Each week we pick a guest
The guest chooses a critically acclaimed album they've never listened to.
The guest explains why they've never listened to it, laying out any potential prejudice in advance. i.e. "I've never liked the cut of Pink Floyd's jib" or "Mark E Smith frightens me".
The guest has to listen to the album at least three times, this acclaimed album that they've never bothered listening to, and then tell us whether it was worth it or not.
