Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix 2020 semi-final 1 - songs and results

Eurovision season is finally here! Last night was the first semi-final of the Norwegian national selection (Melodi Grand Prix). This year there are 5 semi-finals, one for each region of the country, plus five songs that automatically qualify for the grand final.

Last night four songs competed for a spot in the grand final:

Geirmund - Come Alive

Lisa Børud - Talking About Us

Kim Rysstad - Rainbow

Raylee - Wild

The qualifier was Raylee with her song Wild, which will face 9 other songs in the grand final on the 15th of February. One of the automatic qualifiers were also presented during the show:

Sondrey - Take My Time

    Offtopic, but I'm still super disappointed that Hungary has withdrawn from the 2020 contest, especially since it seems like the decision might have been motivated by homophobia. :( Joci Pápai's...

    Offtopic, but I'm still super disappointed that Hungary has withdrawn from the 2020 contest, especially since it seems like the decision might have been motivated by homophobia. :( Joci Pápai's 2017 entry was my personal favorite of that year, and I was happy to see him again in 2019, even though the song/performance wasn't quite as good IMO. It sucks we won't get to see what Hungary has to offer in 2020.

    p.s. I enjoyed Raylee - Wild, it was super catchy... so I can definitely see why it progressed over the others (which were all a bit bland IMO). Sondrey - Take My Time was much better overall, and way less cliche/cheesy though.

        Heh, yeah. One of my friends who is super into Eurovision said Raylee's Wild is basically Fuego, and I have to admit there seems to be way too many parallels between them to be a coincidence.
