Since you both (@goodbetterbestbested too) seem to know what you're talking about when it comes to that genre, should I add american primitive (or american primitive guitar?) to the genre tags for this video? I was not aware of the genre before, and still don't really know what qualifies as it, even after listening to a bunch more from your links, so would appreciate the advice. I just assumed, given the rag in the title, that it was ragtime.

American primitive guitar is a pretty fluid genre that encompasses a lot of different styles, generally typified by the work of John Fahey and the releases he put out on his label Takoma. The genre draws heavily from ragtime songs and people working in the genre often do their own versions of classic rags. This song is more in the style that Fahey drew from rather than played, but it's close enough that it probably doesn't matter too much.
