Really good stuff! Slightly off-topic, but while I was watching this I was thinking about the path back to touring for a band like this. I saw them at Club Congress in Tucson a few years back....

Slightly off-topic, but while I was watching this I was thinking about the path back to touring for a band like this. I saw them at Club Congress in Tucson a few years back. Great show with maybe 150 people in the audience. With a 7 or 8 piece band I can't imagine that was too profitable for them. How will it work when the clubs have to restrict capacity to 25 or 50%? At that point touring becomes a sure money loser for indie bands, no?
Damn, I hadn't considered that. There is going to be a demand surge for live music when people can finally get the hell out of the house, but venue restrictions on size are going to kill that...

There is going to be a demand surge for live music when people can finally get the hell out of the house, but venue restrictions on size are going to kill that profit margin. I'm also thinking about how that'll play out at large outdoor venues (the kind in a bigass field) and I'm laughing at the ineffectiveness of any size limits in those settings. It won't even do any good.
I'll wager large outdoor venues are in for a hot season. Venue size is going to become a major factor. I wonder how many city councils out there will realize they've got a lot of nice parks built for this and that they could totally cash in on it - and undercut the hell out of ticketmaster in the process.
Bring the music outside. Hell, after this last few months, everyone could do with a little more music on the wind.
