I was into just about everything that 4AD put out, and so I picked this up in 1986 and it was unlike anything I'd heard at the time.

Wikipedia says this about the album. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Myst%C3%A8re_des_Voix_Bulgares

I first heard this group in my college music theory class in the late 80s. The professor put on a CD and we all just sat there listening with rapt attention. It was such a unique mix of familiar and unfamiliar. And after spending a good part of the semester listening to the wide vibrato of the European Romantic Era composers, the flat tone of the group was a really strange and welcome change. Thank you for reminding me about them!
