As of March 1, GMG Union is officially on strike. We're asking people not to click on—or contribute content to—Gizmodo, Jalopnik, Jezebel, Kotaku, Lifehacker, and The Root.

Won't be a problem. The entire G/O Media brand is pretty low quality. Gizomodo doesn't know what it wants to be and manages to fail at all of it. Jalopnik's only redeeming feature is the oddball cars/features (almost exclusively by Jason Torchinsky and even this his writing style leaves much to be desired) as the rest is half-assed car reviews, annoying rumor mill, "look at this video we found on youtube", or a clickbait "article" asking a question to the readers followed by a clickbait "article" saying "this is what you readers said!" I don't care about celebrity news, so I don't read Jezebel as their feminism pieces are largely regurgitated from elsewhere. Kotaku hasn't been gaming relevant... ever? Lifehacker is nothing but clickbait "10 things" articles. And The Root is just flat our racist with a comment section that rivals conservative sites for toxicity.

Either way, best of luck to them and what they are asking for.

Nowadays, Kotaku is a glorified RSS reader. All their stories are summaries of better articles from other websites, so I just click on the source and read it instead.

The Root really is freaking hateful, always looking for cheap, manufactured outrage -- even more so than Kotaku.

    From The Wrap:

“To be clear, the terms we offered the GMG Union were not only equivalent to, but in some instances better than, terms agreed to by The Onion Union (GMG’s sister union here at G/O) just one year ago,” Spanfeller said. “We are struggling to understand why terms agreed to by half the editorial union members last year are not acceptable to the other half now.”

What a weird statement. Why would they not want something better? What they agreed to last year with The Onion Union last year was the bare minimum...if they aren't constantly pushing for something better, then they'll get left behind.

Interesting, I've never heard of a union that only represented workers from a single company. Nevertheless, I hope this works out for the strikers!
