Brazilian presidential elections can have two turns. When a single candidate wins the majority in the first turn, the second doesn't take place. That didn't happen, so the next president will be defined by a new vote on October 30, with only the two runner-ups on the ballot.

Who are the other candidates? Would people who previously voted for the others rather switch to Lula or Bolsonaro?

The ones that matter (in terms of votes): Luis Inácio, 48,43% of the votes (center-left) Jair Bolsonaro, 43,20% of the votes (far-right) Simone Tebet, 4,16% of the votes (center-right) Ciro Gomes,...

The ones that matter (in terms of votes):

        • Luis Inácio, 48,43% of the votes (center-left)
        • Jair Bolsonaro, 43,20% of the votes (far-right)
        • Simone Tebet, 4,16% of the votes (center-right)
        • Ciro Gomes, 3,04% (I don't even know)

Would people who previously voted for the others rather switch to Lula or Bolsonaro?

That is the big question. Polls have proven unreliable in this first round, vastly underestimating Bolsonaro's performance. With that in mind, I predict that Bolsonaro will win this election. I don't even know how to express how this makes me feel, I am very much in denial. But, if you're American, imagine how you would feel if Trump won in 2020.

Populists tend to lose steam on runoff. I don’t want to give you false hope though, this looks very tight and I don’t know what the implications of the other candidates are. Good luck.
