I used the daily caller link because it has a video clip of the interview. There's a sort of plausible theory that the feds already have this information so he wanted to get out in front of a bad fact. I think he simply slipped up though. Also, "funneling it through a law firm" does not exculpate people from campaign finance law violations.

I've seen some commenters speculating that Giuliani said this intentionally as part of setting up Trump's legal defense. Is there any credibility to that suggestion? Not asking you to guess what's going through Giuliani's head, but could he be forging a path to a legal argument by making this statement? It seems completely asinine to me. Hanlon's Razor and whatnot.

Those are good questions. In my view—there's no path to a good legal argument doing what's basically free, trainwreck style discovery on Fox. I’m almost tempted to give him credit for getting out...

I’m almost tempted to give him credit for getting out in front of a bad fact and trying to make the issue confusing for the general public to avoid impeachment/removal. Shove Cohen and a few underlings under the bus and even if POTUS is indirectly implicated, Trump stays in office. However, campaign finance violations are not the sexy kind of things that get this Congress to remove you removed from office anyway. So this kind of PR work isn't necessary and there are better ways to go about it.

It's more likely that Giuliani is past his prime as an attorney and out of practice. Keep in mind, Giuliani is also one of the authors of the first travel ban which was an absolute joke piece of work product.

These latest interviews are basically weird depositions filled with admissions on national TV with answers that suck balls and continue the trend of miserable lawyering. I don’t think there is a grand Giuliani chess game happening. He’s playing the legal equivalent of Hungry Hungry Hippos on cable TV.

Interesting. I have plenty to say about Giuliani and find it comical that he's Trump's lifeline especially after reading Comey's book where he describes Giuliani as someone motivated by fame and being in the press rather than by justice or the law. Ineptitude appears to be a much better explanation than Giuliani playing some long con.

You mean to tell me that Rudy "I was mayor of NYC on 9/11" Giuli-"9/11"-ani is motivated primarily by "mayor on 9/11" fame "9/11" and press? I am shocked by that baseless accusation. Shocked, I say!
