Difficult industry to get into due to the costs, requires a lot of hours and work, and now the big companies screw down the rostering to get the most out of them. I assume, point 1 prevents new recruits and point 3 causes them to leave early.

I wonder if new aviation universities are the key, it seems like the costs will still be high (requiring less upfront) which means you will be stuck with debt and less likely to quit later. This may still allow the bigger companies to run pilots into the ground physically and mentally.
