    In 2021 if Democrats have both houses and the presidency they'll conveniently forget about the bill, unless said president is Bernie and he pushes hard for it.

    The thing that jumps out to me though is creating an ethical code for SCOTUS. I'd be interested to hear if they have a specific code in mind, because I'm generally not a fan of a branch of government trying to impose their will on other branches. If its like a set of rough guidelines (e.g. don't be an ass or partisan), then it's probably fine, but I hope they aren't implying they'd like to impose hard restrictions on them.

    My hope here is that they are true to the article and decompose this massive bill into smaller components that actually have some likelihood of passing.

      In my mind, this is campaigning for 2020. I think it's strategic.

      When the general election rolls around in two-years time, Democratic Leadership will be able to say to the public, "Senate Majority Leader McConnell, the Republicans in the Senate, and President Trump have shot down our Anti-Corruption Bill x-amount of times. If we take control of the Senate, we'll make sure to pass it."

      This bill getting rejected starts a discussion and shines a light on those unwilling to challenge corruption and the rest of what the bill contains. People start talking, and sitting Senators up for re-election will look back on the 2018 Blue Wave and reconsider how safe their seat is. Some might support it, and others might have their seats flipped entirely thanks to a population wanting this bill to pass and electing candidates who support it.

    This is more moronic tone deafness from the Dem leadership. Everyone already knows the Republicans are the party of corruption. A great many know that the Dems are nearly as corrupt. The average American's reaction will be, "Yeah, and shit is brown"

    Take a look at some policies that have great support across the electorate;
    Medicare for all
    A Living Wage
    Ending the Wars
    Public Funded College
    Jobs Program/ Infrastructure A Green New Deal

    This is the stuff you can beat the GOP silly with in 2020 if you wanted to.
    I will be struck dumb if any of this ends up on the agenda (unmolested) in the next two years.
