this is the latest in a long string of seemingly chummy relations between portland's institutions and the alt-right and far right groups that make a habit of protesting in the city. for those you who aren't in the know, it's going down (which i should note is an anarchist website) has a fairly comprehensive run down what's been happening in the city since the turn of last year which includes some of those seemingly chummy relations along with a broader scope of all the political actions that have been going on in the city in the past year or so.

But he never suggested the assistant should turn himself in? Just that the cops would look the other way.

"Just make sure he doesn't do anything which may draw our attention," Niiya texted Gibson on Dec. 9, 2017, Willamette Week reported. "If he still has the warrant in the system (I don't run you guys so I don't personally know) the officers could arrest him. I don't see a need to arrest on the warrant unless there is a reason." A police spokeswoman said it is not unusual for officers to suggest people turn themselves in to avoid being arrested on a warrant, Willamette Week reported.
